Cataract Eye Surgery

Our eyes have a natural lens. Once we grow older, these lenses eventually become cloudy. This cloudiness slowly limits our vision and gradually leads to loss of eyesight. This kind of blindness is called Cataract. It starts to occur after the age of 40 and is a common cause of loss of vision in the elderly. A cataract is a principal reason for the loss of vision around the world.

Cataracts can be easily treated and the vision can be effectively improved. The surgery is very simple wherein your eye lens, which becomes cloudy, is substituted with an artificial lens. This artificial lens is called Intraocular lens. Once performed, it restores clear vision in your eyes. This surgery is so simple it doesn’t even require a 24 hours stay at the hospital.

The most common cataract procedures today, incorporate the application of high-frequency ultrasound equipment that cuts or breaks the hazy lens into tiny parts, which are later gently extracted with the help of the suction method. This procedure is called phacoemulsification.
